Gillen Munguía has been admitted to several prestigious academies and opera schools, such as Opera(e)Studio in Tenerife, AsLiCo Academy of Teatro Sociale in Como, Scuola dell’Opera of  Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Workshop about “vocalità donizettiana” organised by Donizetti Festival with the collaboration of the Academy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Conservatory of Bergamo, having the opportunity to study with such artists as Teresa Berganza, Mariella Devia, Luciana Serra, Roberto Aronica, Chris Merritt, Renato Bruson and Alberto Zedda. Before he studied singing with soprano Elisabetta Tandura and Maestro Simone Savina

Among the roles he has already debuted, the title role in Werther in the theatres of Opera Lombardia and at Teatro Verdi in Pisa after being the winner of the 71st AsLiCo International Singing Competition, Alfredo in La traviata (Opera de Tenerife, Festival CortinaTeatro), Rodolfo in La bohème (Lithuanian National Opera Vilnius, Albanian National Opera House), Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi  (Teatro Comunale di Bologna), Hofmann in Les contes d´Hofmann (Opera de Tenerife), Rafael in El Gato Montés (Opera de Oviedo), Nemorino in L´elisir d´amore (Incheon Artistic Center -Korea del Sud, Teatro Lopez Ayala de Badajoz).

He ha salso covered the title role of Roberto Devereux at Teatro Regio di Parma, the role of Warney in Il Castello di Kenilworth at Festival Donizetti di Bergamo and for the title role of Werther at Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara and Teatro Municipale di Reggio Emilia.

He released two works for the prestigious Sony label: ‘Lexia’, his first album dedicated to lied and chansons, and Gabon Kantak, an unpublished work for voice and piano by composer Aita Donostia, and he has recently recorded the opera Mirentxu by Jesús Guridi.
