Brian Michael Moore is a tenor from Cincinnati, Ohio. From 2020 to 2023 he was a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble making his house debut as Schmidt in Werther and singing in many productions, also with leading roles as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Narraboth in Salome or the title role in Britten’s The Prodigal Son. He has been heard also as the Shepherd in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex, Remendado in Barrie Kosky’s production of Carmen, a Singer in the new creation Waiting for Today with music by Arnold Schönberg and Frank Martin, a Vision of a Young Man in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Eumäos in Dallapiccola’s Ulisse.
His most recent highlights are Tybalt in Romeo et Juliette at Theater an der Wien, Claude Le Jeune in the world premiere of Lili Elbe by Tobias Picker at Theater St. Gallen and Don José in Carmen at Oper im Steinbruch in Sankt Margarethen.
He has been selected for the seasons 2018-19 and 2019-20 by Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at Metropolitan Opera, where he had his company debut in Il tabarro and he performed in Die Zauberflöte and in La traviata.
He has been a member of the Young Artists Program at Los Angeles Opera, where he had the chance to sing in several productions under the baton of James Conlon, such as Salome (Jude), Tosca (Spoletta), Carmen (Remendado) and Candide (The Governor). At L.A. Opera he sang also the role of Nathanael in Les Contes d’Hoffmann conducted by Placido Domingo. He has already sung also with LA Philarmonic Orchestra, in a concert version of Die Zauberflöte conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
In the summer of 2016, he participated in the Merola Opera Program of San Francisco Opera, performing in Conrad Susa’s Transformations. He has also appeared as the Shepherd in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex at Cincinnati May Festival under the baton of James Conlon and as the Animal Tamer in Der Rosenkavalier at Cincinnati Opera. In the summer of 2017 he had two important engagements: Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni conducted by James Conlon at Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto (Italy) and Luke Bedford’s Seven Angels at Aspen Music Festival with Yves Abel as conductor. In December 2017 he was again Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Teatro Coccia di Novara.
Brian Michael Moore is a winner of the 2018 Sara Tucker Study Grant, and he was recognized as “Una Finestra Sui Due Mondi” from the 2017 Spoleto Festival Dei Due Mondi. He completed his bachelor of music and master of music at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Mark Oswald.
