Born in Bari, Marianna Mappa graduated from the Conservatorio ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ in Milan, studied at Renata Scotto’s Opera Studio at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and was subsequently admitted to the ‘Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo’ at the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, where she took part in numerous concerts and opera productions (The turn of the screw, Madama Butterfly, Peter Grimes, Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne, Il corsaro, La clemenza di Tito, Händel’s Israel in Egypt conducted by Fabio Biondi). He was also a member of the Young Artists Programme ‘Fabbrica’ of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, where he took part in the productions of Die Lustige Witwe conducted by Stefano Montanari, Il trovatore (also as a cover of Leonora) with Daniele Gatti, Ernani with Marco Armiliato and directed by Hugo de Ana and Bernstein’s Mass at Terme di Caracalla conducted by Diego Matheuz and staged by Damiano Michieletto.

Highlights of her career include her debut at Arena di Verona in 2023 as Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, for which she returned to the Arena in 2024 and following which she was invited to the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona for Facci’s Amleto and Die Zauberflöte (First Lady). During 2024 she also performed Odabella in Attila at Teatro Verdi in Busseto. In 2022 she made her debut at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in I lombardi alla prima crociata (Viclinda). In September 2024, she makes her debut at Opera Carlo Felice in Genoa with the role of Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.

Marianna Mappa has also distinguished herself in several international singing competitions, including the ‘Omaggio a Maria Callas’ competition in Brescia (first prize), the SOI ‘Scuola dell’Opera Italiana’ competition (special prizes Festival Donizetti in Bergamo and Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago, in 2023), and the ASLICO competition (emerging voice prize in 2021). Subsequently, with ASLICO, she performed the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in the theatres of Opera Lombardia (Como, Pavia, Brescia, Cremona) in 2022.
