Azer Zada was a member of Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he had the chance to be part of many productions:Turandot, Rigoletto, Aida, Don Carlo, La traviata and I due Foscari, having the privilege to work with such conductors as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Nello Santi and Myung-Whun Chung.
Born in Baku (Azerbaijan), Azer Zada moved to Italy to study at the Accademia d’Arte Lirica in Osimo, attending masterclasses also with Magda Oliviero, Raina Kabaivanska, Renata Scotto and Renato Bruson. He has also been awarded at several international singing competitions, as Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino (Audience Prize in 2016) and Concorso “Voci Verdiane” Città di Busseto (First Prize for “Giovani Voci”).
In 2016 he made his debut in the first leading role: Macduff in Macbeth at Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno under the baton of Daniel Oren and Verdi’s Messa di Requiem with Jader Bignamini and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.
His natural dramatic tenor and his musical skills have already allowed him to debut many challenging roles such as Radamès in Aida (Arena di Verona with M° Muti, Ravenna, Polish National Opera Warsaw, Aspendos Festival), Cavaradossi in Tosca (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Reggio Emilia, Sanxay), Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Canio in Pagliacci (Ravenna Festival under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg), Don José in Carmen (Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Bolshoi Theatre), Giuseppe Hagenbach in La Wally (Teatro Nacional de São Carlos Lisbon), Luigi in Il tabarro (Festival Puccini, Ópera de Oviedo).
His repertoire include also more lyrical roles as Rodolfo in La bohème (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Bolshoi Theatre, Trieste, Piacenza), Alfredo in La traviata (Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Moscow Philharmonic Hall), Ismaele in Nabucco (Ravenna Festival, Padova), Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera (Tokyo under the baton of Riccardo Muti), Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra (Teatro Massimo di Palermo).
Recent performances are:Tosca in Lucca, Le Villi (debut as Roberto) at Teatro Regio di Torino; Puccini gala at Opéra de Tours; Aida at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw; Il tabarro at Ópera de Oviedo and at Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago; Un ballo in Maschera (concert version) at Tokyo Spring Festival under the baton of M° Riccardo Muti.
