Chinese bass Yongheng Dong has made himself noticed for his remarkable musical talent and his rigorous and serious professional attitude. His technical and vocal skills have enabled him to approach a very wide repertoire from the very beginning of his career, with roles extending from Ferrando in Il trovatore to Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, from Hunding in Die Walküre to Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro.
He was awarded the Special Prize of the International “Hibla Gerzmava” Opera Singers Competition 2023 in Moscow, that will give you the privilege to debut the role of Scarpia in Tosca at the Bolshoi Teatre. He was also awarded at “Riccardo Zandonai” International Vocal Competition (Grand Prix, 2018) Concorso Internazionale di Canto “Piero Cappuccilli” (Third Prize 2022), “VIVA Calisia” International Vocal Competition in Poland (Grand Prix, 2021).
His opera engagements include Ferrando in Il trovatore at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Teatro Goldoni in Livorno and Opera Giocosa in Savona, Betto in Gianni Schicchi and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, Hunding in Die Walküre (concert version) at Teatro Palladium in Rome, Briano in Verdi’s Aroldo at Teatro Galli in Rimini, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro in Perugia.
His concert performed repertoire include Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Mozart’s Requiem. In 2023 he also sang in concerts at Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and at Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
Yongheng Dong began his study with Haibing Ji in China, then he came to Europe to continue his studies: he graduated (both Bachelor and Master in Vocal Music) from the Conservatory of Perugia under the guidance of with Michela Sburlati, he studied with Renato Bruson, Mietta Sighele and Gianni Maffeo, he obtained a PhD in Vocal Musci from the Chopin University in Warsaw, with Prof. Ryszard Ciesle.
Recent projects are: Tosca (Scarpia) in Moscow; Madama Butterfly at Opera Giocosa in Savona, at Teatro delle Muse in Ancona and in the theatres of Rete Lirica Marche; “Fuoco di gioia” concert at Festival Verdi Parma; Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno; Il trovatore (Ferrando) at Opera Giocosa in Savona, Teatro Goldoni in Livorno and at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca; Die Walküre in concert (Hunding) at Teatro Palladium in Rome; Così fan tutte (Don Alfonso) at Theatre Wielki in Warsaw
