The young and talented soprano Yewon Han has won the “Tenor Viñas” International Singing Competition 2023 in Barcelona (first prize overall) and in 2022 she has won the Third Prize at International Singing Competiton ‘Neue Stimmen’.

She was a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, where she has sung, among others, the roles of Titania in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night`s Dream and Romilda in Händel’s Serse, and she has been the cover for the title role of Lakmè and Norina in Don Pasquale. From the season 2025/26 she is a member of Opernhaus Zürich ensemble.

Before moving to Europe to perfect her singing, Yewon Han studied in her home Country, South Korea, where she graduated from the College of Music of Seoul National University (Bachelor’s degree in Classical Voice) and in 2021-22 she was a member of the Young Artist Program of Korea National Opera. In South Korea she has also distinguished herself in many singing competitions: Grand Prize at Vocal Music Competition of Daegu 2021, First Prize and Special Prize for ‘Korean Art Song’ at Vocal Music Competition of Gwangju 2021, Gold Prize at Korea National Opera Competition 2020, First Prize at Korean Classical Singers Association International Vocal Competition 2020, First Prize at KBS KEPCO Music Competition 2020, First Prize at Korean Voice Competition 2020, First Prize at JoongAng Music Concours 2020.

Her stage debut was in 2018 with the role of Amahl in Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors at Sejong Center for the Performing. In South Korea she has also sung the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi at the Grand Theater of Seoul National University Cultural Centre, and the role of Papagena in Die Zauberflöte at Art Center Incheon.

In 2022 Yewon Han performed the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus Tiroler Festspiele Erl.

Among her next project, she will be Ophélie in Hamlet at Buxton Festival in Summer 2025, and in Zurich she will be Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Poussette in Massenet’s Manon, Frasquita in Carmen and Flakermilli in Arabella and Servilia in La clemenza di Tito.
