The Italian baritone Simone Del Savio has established himself in recent years as one of the most gifted singers and performers in the international opera scene, treading the boards of the most prestigious opera houses and festivals, such as La Scala, ROH Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Salzburg Festival.
He was awarded in several singing contest, including the first prize at the “Toti Dal Monte” International Competition in Treviso (2005), the second prize at the “Riccardo Zandonai” International Competition in Riva del Garda (2005). In 2007 he received for the opera category the “Eberhard Waechter” medal, the recognition given to the best young singers in Austrian theaters.
He graduated in 2004 at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” in Turin, then in 2005 he was chosen for the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Zedda and he made his debut at the Rossini Opera Festival as Don Profondo in Il viaggio a Reims.
In a short time his talent led him to many of the leading theaters and festivals in Europe: in 2007 he made his debut at La Scala di Milano, in Madama Butterfly conducted by Myung-whun Chung and as Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, in 2008 at the Salzburg Festival in Otello conducted by Riccardo Muti, in 2010 at the Royal Opera House in London as Schaunard in La Bohème, in 2011 at the Deustche Oper Berlin in Madama Butterfly (Sharpless), in 2012 at the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich, again with the role of Schaunard.
His wide repertoire goes from Rossini to Mozart and Donizetti, from Verdi to Puccini. Some of the many roles that he has successfully performed are Leporello in Don Giovanni (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Opéra de Toulon), Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte (Opéra National in Paris with Philippe Jordan), Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro (Opera di Roma), Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio in Turin and Opéra National in Paris), the title role of Rigoletto (Oper Frankfurt), Giorgio Germont in La traviata (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), both Dulcamara and Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Lord Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor (Teatro Regio di Torino under the baton of Bruno Campanella, Teatro Massimo di Palermo), Riccardo in Bellini’s I Puritani (conducted by Michele Mariotti at Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at Teatro Regio di Torino), Schaunard (ROH London, Opéra de Paris) and Marcello (Comunale di Bologna conducted by Juraj Vlacuha, in Turin and at Edinburgh Festival with Gianandrea Noseda) in La bohéme.
