Born in 1990 in Helsinki, the Finnish baritone Kristian Lindroos comes from a family of singers and his greatest inspiration in his career has been his grandfather, tenor Peter Lindroos. For the seasons 2023/24 and 2024/25 he is engaged as a soloist at Gothenburg Opera.

He has aquired his Masters Degree from the vocal department of Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and he has studied privately with Sherman Lowe, Jaakko Ryhänen and Irina Gavrilovici. He also attended masterclasses of Jorma Hynninen, Fabio Luisi and Kamal Khan, among others.

Kristian Lindroos made his debut at Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca in 2015, in L’incoronazione di Poppea staged by Gianmaria Aliverta. In 2016 he had his debut with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino at the Opera di Firenze as Young Henrik in Marco Tutino’s opera Le braci. He has also performed several times at Savonlinna Opera Festival, including the productions of Rigoletto, Tosca, Turandot and Madama Butterfly, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Giovanni and Lohengrin.

His performed opera roles include Escamillo in Carmen, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, the title role of Don Giovanni, Schaunard in La bohème.

He has performed as a soloist with almost all the Finnish orchestras: Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki City Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonics, Sinfonia Lahti and the Vaasa symphony Orchestra and he has worked with conductors as Philippe Auguin, Sir Roger Norrington, Leif Segerstam, Hannu Lintu, Susanna Mälkki and Kristiina Poska.

Kristian Lindroos won the first price in the Lappeenranta singing competition 2016. He has also won a special prize in the ’Toti dal Monte’ International Singing Competition in Treviso (Italy) in 2015.
